My love of houseplants started in my twenties when a few gifted plants slowly turned into a growing collection. I lived in a tiny flat with limited space and light and over time I noticed some of my plants doing ok while other were clearly struggling. I loved the sense of calm, tranquillity and connection to nature plants brought but I had little idea how to really care for them to keep that sense of tranquillity going.  

Over the years, not every plant survived. I’ve seen plenty of yellowing, browning or crispy leaves and had moments when I wondered what I’d done wrong. But there were also small breakthroughs and little wins that gradually made houseplant care feel less mysterious and more fun.

Since falling in love with houseplants in my twenties, I’ve studied horticulture, worked in a botanic garden, and now help people care for their plants professionally as a houseplant advisor. While I have a lot more knowledge now, some of the best practical tips have come from time and my own experience in noticing how my plants grow in my home. I believe successful plant care isn’t about creating perfect conditions but instead learning to observe your plants and understanding what they’re telling you.

That’s why I started Leafy Little Wins.

The name Leafy Little Wins comes from the idea that successful plant care is usually built on small observations and moments of learning rather than dramatic transformations.

I aim to share some of the simple wins, things to notice, and other advice that should make houseplant care more enjoyable, fun and help your plants thrive so you can appreciate them for longer. You can expect:
